Types of work Permits offered in Taiwan

Type A: Work permit for professional employees

This work permit is a standard requirement, according to the Taiwan Immigration Department, for individuals working in Taiwan. Applicants must meet the following criteria:

Employer requirements:

  • Annual sales of NTD$10,000,000 or more (for the most recent year or the average of the previous 3 years).
  • For newly established companies or branches, the requirement is adjusted to a minimum capital amount of NTD$5,000,000.
  • For representative offices, valid business proof should be provided.

Employee requirements:

  • Possession of a master’s degree or a bachelor’s degree along with 2 years of working experience.
  • A minimum salary of approximately NTD$48,000.

     

Type B: Work permit for a responsible manager

This work permit is commonly required for the position of a responsible manager. To be eligible for this work permit, the following criteria must be fulfilled:

Employer Requirements:

  • Only one responsible manager can be appointed per business entity.
  • The responsible manager should constitute 1/3 of the foreign investor.
  • Annual sales must be NTD$3,000,000 or more (based on the most recent year or the average of the previous 3 years).
  • For newly established companies or branches, the minimum capital requirement is adjusted to NTD$500,000.
  • Representative offices must provide valid business proof.

Gold Card for Special Professional Employees

This work permit is a novel category tailored for individuals with specialized professions. To qualify for this work permit, the following conditions must be satisfied:

Employee Requirements:

  • Possession of special expertise as announced by the Ministry of Labor or central authorities.
  • A monthly salary of NTD$160,000 or more (current or within the past 3 years).
