Exploring the Variations of Business Visas in Vietnam
Vietnam has specific visa categories tailored to different purposes of visits. For those conducting business in Vietnam, three primary visa types are most relevant: the Business Visa, Investor Visa, and Working Visa. While the tourist visa remains popular, these business-related visas provide the necessary authorization for various professional activities in the country.
Business Visa
The Vietnamese government offers two types of business visas: DN1 and DN2. A DN1 visa is designated for foreigners assigned professional roles with legally recognized businesses or organizations in Vietnam. The DN2 visa is for foreigners aiming to establish a commercial presence under international treaties Vietnam is a part of. Business visas can be issued for single or multiple entries with durations of 1 month or 3 months. Visas can be obtained through Visa on Arrival, which requires a sponsor letter, or through the Vietnamese Embassy or Consulate.
Investor Visa
Investor visas are granted to foreign investors based on their capital contributions in Vietnam. A DT1 visa, valid for up to five years, is for investments of VND 100 billion or more. A DT2 visa, also valid for five years, is for investments under VND 100 billion. The DT3 visa, valid for three years, is for investments under VND 50 billion, while a DT4 visa, valid for 12 months, is for investments under VND 3 billion.
Working Visa
Working visas in Vietnam are divided into LD1 and LD2 categories. The LD1 visa is for foreigners exempt from work permits, typically under international treaties. The LD2 visa is for those who secure a work permit in Vietnam. Both types of working visas are valid for up to two years.
