What to Do If You Lose or Damage Your Gold Card While Abroad
Losing or damaging your Gold Card can be stressful, but with the right steps, you can ensure a smooth return to Taiwan. Here’s what you need to know:
- If Your Gold Card Is Damaged While Abroad
- Contact the Border Affairs Corps:
Before arriving in Taiwan, contact the Immigration Agency’s Border Affairs Corps at the airport where you will land. Inform them of your arrival time and flight number. This allows them to verify your identity and prepare for your arrival. - Airline Visa Check:
Airlines will typically check for a valid visa before boarding. If your Gold Card is damaged, some airlines may reach out to the Immigration Agency to confirm your status. - Entry to Taiwan:
Once your status is confirmed, you can use your damaged card to board the flight and enter Taiwan. - Important Note:
Each flight and terminal may have different points of contact. Confirm your arrival date and flight number before reaching out to the Border Affairs Corps.

- Apply for a Replacement Online:
- Log in to the “Online Application Portal”
- Select the Correct Option: Navigate to the “Application Menu” and choose “Replace a Lost, Stolen, or Damaged Employment Gold Card.”
- Follow the Instructions:
Upload a signed Declaration Letter and Complete the application process as instructed.
- Processing Time: The review process takes about two weeks
- Entry to Taiwan:
Once approved, download the Resident Authorization Certificate from the portal. This document allows you to enter Taiwan.
- Pick Up Your New Gold Card: After returning to Taiwan, collect your new Gold Card at your designated National Immigration Agency Service Center.
