Malaysia – Prioritizing on Local Workforce by Offering Free Industrial Training

Prioritizing on Local Workforce by Offering Free Industrial Training

The need to leverage the hiring of local workforce should be implemented on a larger scale at the same time reduce the dependency of hiring foreign workers by offering free industrial training to them.

The hiring of local workers is one of the best initiatives as it will help to boost the progress of the economy holistically. Reducing dependency on foreign workers is relevant as currently, the number of unemployed locals has skyrocketed.

The Malaysian government is looking into implementing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), a training platform where employees are able to upskill themselves to all employees especially younger generations who are also school leavers. Aside from that, Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp) dan Perbadanan Tabung Pembangunan Kemahiran (PTPK) has looked into providing sufficient job training to approximately 900 of them to upskill themselves.

This collaboration initiative which is also known as the Industry-Driven Talent Acceleration Programme (ID-TAP) highly prioritizes industries such as mechatronics, electrical and electronic engineering, data analysis, and internet technology (IT) which have been in high demand around the world lately.

The 900 employees consist of more than 100 companies including both small and average companies will participate in the free industrial training which will take place in 10 countries around Malaysia such as Selangor, Perak, Pulau Pinang, Kedah, Pahang, Sarawak, Terengganu, Negeri Sembilan, dan Johor.
