French Energy Giant Plans to Invest USD 500 Million in Green Projects in Vietnam

On November 20, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Bui Xuan Cuong had a meeting and worked with the delegation of HDF Energy Company (France) led by Ms. Nina Murillo, HDF Energy’s Manager of New Project Development in Asia. The meeting aimed to discuss the potential for cooperation in developing green hydrogen projects of HDF Energy in the city in the coming time.

Specifically, Ms. Nina Murillo said that HDF Energy is an independent French developer and producer of electricity, specializing in implementing hydrogen power projects with low to near-zero emissions, operating stably 24/7. The company has also opened a representative office in Hanoi since 2022.

Sharing about the plan to expand investment activities in Vietnam, Mr. Tran Khanh Viet Dung, Director of HDF Energy in Vietnam, said that the company is currently coordinating with many ministries, branches, and large state corporations in the fields of electricity, transportation, maritime, petrochemical refining… In particular, HDF Energy plans to invest about 500 million USD in potential projects in Vietnam in the near future.

Therefore, Mr. Dung hopes that the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City will create conditions for HDF Energy in Vietnam to invest in projects in the city in the fields of renewable energy, transportation, especially the development of river bus routes using green hydrogen energy on the Saigon River, cooperation in developing green port projects at Can Gio Port, green energy supply projects in Con Dao Special Zone as well as research and development of inner-city railway lines using hydrogen…

Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee Bui Xuan Cuong highly appreciated the projects that HDF Energy has been implementing in Vietnam. Mr. Cuong emphasized that developing renewable energy, green energy and applying modern technology is an inevitable direction to ensure energy security, promote sustainable growth and protect the environment for future generations.

City leaders expect HDF Energy to invest heavily in the green transition in Ho Chi Minh City, especially in the fields of transport, industry and environment, with priority given to transport. At the same time, they affirmed that the Ho Chi Minh City leaders are always ready to create favorable conditions and coordinate closely so that HDF Energy’s projects can be implemented effectively and successfully in the city in the coming time.
