Establish a National Center to Support the Prototyping of Semiconductor Chips
Vietnam’s semiconductor industry has just marked a significant milestone: The Ministry of Science and Technology has officially regulated the establishment of the National Center for Semiconductor Chip Prototype Manufacturing Support (Decision no. 4386/QĐ-BKHCN, dated on 24/12/2025).
This is a key move to realize the “C = SET + 1” strategy (in detail: S (Specialized – Specialized Chips), E (Electronics – Electronics Industry), T (Talent), + 1 (Vietnam – The New Destination), positioning Vietnam as a new, safe destination in the global supply chain.
Key Highlights of the Center’s Role:
- Comprehensive Support: Providing tools, EDA software licenses, IP libraries, and technical support for the prototype manufacturing process.
- Workforce Development: Collaborating with universities to provide practical training and enhance the capacity of the existing workforce of over 7,000 design engineers.
- Startup Promotion: Supporting startups in product commercialization, performance testing, and connecting them with investment funds.
- International Connection: Building a cooperative network with fabrication, packaging, and testing plants worldwide.
With a foundation of hardware export turnover exceeding USD 132 billion (2024) and the presence of 170 FDI projects, the launch of this Center promises to create a robust semiconductor ecosystem and elevate Vietnam’s technological standing.
