Singapore is stepping up efforts to future-proof its workforce as part of its national drive to become a global leader in Artificial Intelligence (AI). The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) has launched new initiatives to equip both tech and non-tech professionals with AI skills, aiming to boost productivity, competitiveness, and innovation across all sectors.

  1. People-Centric AI Transformation
  • AI adoption is intended to enhance jobs, not replace them.
  • Government will partner with employers, unions, and training providers to integrate AI safely and responsibly into the workplace.

  1. Strong AI Adoption Momentum
  • 75% of workers are already using AI tools at work.
  • 85% report positive impact (higher efficiency, time saved, better work quality).
  • Two-thirds of employers using AI plan to prioritise training existing staff.

  1. Upskilling All Workers
  • Non-tech professionals (e.g. finance, HR, marketing) will be trained to be “AI-fluent”, using AI tools to improve workflows.
  • Tech professionals will receive advanced AI and cloud skills training to stay ahead as technologies evolve.

  1. Expanded Training Programmes
  • TeSA has placed 21,000 locals in tech roles since 2016.
  • New “AWS Career Launchpad with Trainocate” will offer 100 participants structured 6–12 month programmes with AWS certifications and real-world project experience.
  • Micro-credentials will let workers build qualifications progressively, recognising prior learning and skills.

  1. Building Cloud Capabilities
  • A new “Skills Pathway for Cloud” will support professionals to gain industry-recognised cloud certifications — seen as foundational for large-scale AI adoption.
