Singapore Expands SkillsFuture Aid to Part-Time Learners
Background
The SkillsFuture Level-Up Programme (SFLP), introduced in Budget 2024, aims to help mid-career Singaporeans (aged 40 and above) upskill and reskill to remain competitive in a rapidly evolving economy.
Key Points of the Extension
- The SkillsFuture Mid-Career Training Allowance provides financial support for eligible individuals pursuing long-form training.
- Previously, this allowance was available for those taking time off work for full-time training. It covers 50% of the individual’s average income (based on the latest 12 months), up to $3,000 per month.
- Starting from Budget 2024, the allowance is extended to selected part-time long-form training programmes.
- For part-time training, the allowance is a fixed $300 per month, intended to help with incidental training costs such as books, materials, and transport.
- Each individual has a lifetime cap of 24 months for receiving the SkillsFuture Mid-Career Training Allowance, shared across both full-time and part-time training.
- Further details on eligible courses will be announced by the Ministry of Education.
