Applications Open for Artificial Intelligence Subsidy Scheme
On 7 October, the Artificial Intelligence Subsidy Scheme was formally introduced. Organizations that meet the requirements are welcome to apply to Cyberport.
The 2024–25 Budget announced a $3 billion allocation for the establishment of a three-year Subsidy Scheme, primarily to support local universities, research institutes, businesses, etc. in utilizing the computational power of Cyberport’s AI Supercomputing Centre (AISC) to achieve scientific breakthroughs. This move is intended to foster the growth of the artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem in Hong Kong.
Eligible consumers may often receive subsidies up to 70% of Cyberport’s AISC’s service list price under the Subsidy Scheme. Applications for subsidies, together with details about the precise amount, duration, and terms of use, must be reviewed and approved by the government-appointed Committee of the AI Subsidy Scheme.
It is anticipated that Cyberport’s AISC first phase facility will open for business this year. The AISC at Cyberport will gradually boost its processing capacity to a level of about 3 000 petaFLOPS.
On 10 October, there will be a hybrid information session regarding the Subsidy Scheme.
