UAE Launches ‘TM Market Place,’ First Regional Platform for Trading Trademarks
In a significant move to bolster the nation’s knowledge-based economy, the Ministry of Economy and Tourism has officially launched ‘TM Market Place,’ the first digital platform of its kind in the UAE and the wider region dedicated to the buying and trading of trademarks. This innovative national project is set to transform the intellectual property (IP) landscape, enhancing the UAE’s competitiveness and appeal to global companies and investors.
The launch event, held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi, was attended by key figures including H.E. Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism; H.E. Abdullah Ahmed Al Saleh, Undersecretary of the Ministry; and H.E. Dr. Abdulrahman Hassan Al Muaini, Assistant Undersecretary for the Intellectual Property Sector.
Key Benefits:
- For Owners: Generate revenue from underutilized trademarks by listing them in a secure, government-supervised environment.
- For Investors: Gain easier and faster access to ready-made brands, lowering market entry barriers.
- For the Economy: Supports SMEs and aims to increase the market’s attractiveness to brands by 20% in its first year.
The platform is operational immediately and will be overseen by the Ministry to ensure compliance with UAE trademark laws and secure all transactions. This initiative is part of broader national efforts that have already led to a 129% growth in trademark registrations in the first half of 2025.
