FTA Urges Individuals to Register for Corporate Tax by March 2025

ABU DHABI, 9th March 2025 (WAM) — The UAE Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has reiterated that all natural persons subject to Corporate Tax must submit their Tax Registration applications by the end of March 2025 to avoid penalties.

The FTA clarified that any individual conducting business in the UAE, whose total turnover exceeded AED 1 million during the 2024 calendar year, is considered a “Taxable Person.” These individuals must complete their registration for Corporate Tax by March 31, 2025, fulfilling their tax compliance obligations.

A ‘natural person’ is defined by the FTA as any individual, regardless of age or residency, engaged in business activities in the UAE, including sole proprietors or individual partners in joint ventures. The first tax period for such individuals begins in 2024.

Those required to register must apply by the end of March 2025, and failure to meet this deadline will result in a penalty of AED 10,000. Tax registrants can submit their applications via EmiraTax, the UAE’s digital tax platform, which operates 24/7. Once approved, they will receive a corporate tax registration number.

For further details, the FTA urges compliance to ensure smooth processing of tax returns, due by 30th September 2025.
