💡 Singapore | Singapore Inflation Stable Despite Minor September 2025 Rise
Singapore’s core inflation edged up slightly to 0.4% year-on-year in September 2025, with headline inflation at 0.7%, driven by moderate rises in food and services costs, while private transport and accommodation saw slower increases. Month-on-month inflation remained stable, reflecting contained price pressures amid weak global demand, stable energy markets, and a strong Singapore dollar. MAS expects 2025 core inflation to average 0.5–1.0% and is likely to maintain its zero-appreciation S$NEER policy stance, with upside risks from supply chain disruptions or oil prices offset by subdued demand, keeping overall inflation modest.
✏️ Taiwan | Taiwan Projects Up to 6% Growth in 2025 as AI Demand Accelerates
Taiwan’s economy is projected to grow 5.5–6% in 2025, driven by its strategic role in the global AI boom, according to DGBAS Minister Chen Shu-tzu. Despite concerns over a potential AI bubble, Chen highlighted steady profits from major tech firms and strong demand for AI applications and computing power. With Q3 growth at 7.64%, well above the 2.91% forecast, full-year estimates are being revised upward. To address potential income gaps from AI-driven growth, the government plans to expand social subsidies, with the welfare budget rising from NTD421.8 billion in 2014 to NTD806.1 billion in 2025.
💰 Vietnam | Increasing Regional Minimum Wage from January 1, 2026
On November 10, 2025, the government issued Decree 293/2025/ND-CP, setting new minimum wages effective January 1, 2026, replacing Decree 74/2024/ND-CP. Monthly wages rise 250,000–350,000 VND (≈7.2%), with Region I at 5,310,000 VND, Region II at 4,730,000 VND, Region III at 4,140,000 VND, and Region IV at 3,700,000 VND. Rates apply by employer location, with industrial zones adopting the highest regional rate. Minimum wages, including weekly, daily, or piece-rate payments, must be converted to ensure full-time employees receive at least the stipulated monthly/hourly amounts, providing legal clarity for wage adjustments.

Effective 1 July 2025, Malaysia will extend Service Tax (SST) to private healthcare, traditional and complementary medicine (TCM), and allied health providers. Businesses with a taxable turnover of RM1.5 million or more over 12 months must charge 6% SST on services for non-citizens, covering medical, dental, physiotherapy, diagnostic, and traditional treatments. Sales of certain medical aids, like wheelchairs and prosthetics, are exempt. Providers should review billing and operations now to ensure correct service classification and registration.
