Google Unveils Nano Banana Pro – A Giant Leap in AI Visual Creation

Google has launched Nano Banana Pro, built on Gemini 3 Pro, its enhanced AI image generation and editing tool, marking another significant step forward in the company’s growing portfolio of visual and generative AI technologies.

Josh Woodward, vice president of Google Labs and Gemini, explained that Nano Banana Pro offers much broader functionality than the original version released in August. While the first version became a social media sensation for converting photos into highly realistic 3D-style figurines, the Pro edition is designed to support both creative and professional content creation.

Woodward highlighted its ability to generate infographics, slide decks, and maintain visual consistency across up to 14 images or five different characters. Internal testers have already experimented by inputting code snippets and LinkedIn resumes to instantly turn them into visual narratives.

The original Nano Banana helped attract over 13 million new users to the Gemini app in just four days, demonstrating the wide appeal of creative AI tools. Nano Banana Pro is now available in the Gemini app with limited free usage, and is also integrated into Google’s NotebookLM writing assistant, as well as enterprise, developer, and advertising platforms.

Subscribers to Google AI Pro and Ultra plans can also access Nano Banana Pro through AI Mode in Google Search. The tool will be introduced to Ultra subscribers first in Flow, Google’s AI-powered filmmaking platform.

Google has also introduced a companion feature that allows users to upload any image to check whether it was generated by Google AI. Images produced through free Nano Banana accounts will carry a watermark, while Ultra tier users will have the watermark automatically removed.

As competition grows in the AI space, Google and OpenAI continue to expand their offerings. OpenAI announced updates to GPT-5 focused on improving conversational warmth, clarity, and everyday usability, reflecting the industry’s shift toward more user-friendly and intuitive AI interactions.

At present, ChatGPT ranks first on Apple’s App Store, with Gemini in second place. Google reports that the Gemini app has surpassed 650 million monthly active users, and Gemini-powered AI Overviews now serve around 2 billion monthly users. OpenAI’s Sam Altman recently announced that ChatGPT has reached approximately 800 million weekly active users.
