PERKESO Introduces Direct Debit Payment Option on ASSIST to Streamline Employer Contributions

In a significant move aimed at enhancing payment efficiency and convenience, the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) has officially launched the Direct Debit payment feature on its ASSIST portal. This new initiative is designed to simplify the process of monthly statutory contributions, offering employers and contributors an automated, secure, and reliable alternative to manual transactions.

The introduction of Direct Debit follows growing demand for a more seamless method of payment that reduces administrative workload and minimizes the risk of late or erroneous submissions. After engaging with employers, industry representatives, and financial institutions, PERKESO implemented this solution to address long-standing operational challenges while aligning with the government’s digital transformation agenda.

Employers registered with ASSIST can now authorize scheduled monthly deductions directly from their bank accounts by completing a one-time Direct Debit Authorisation (DDA) process. This development ensures timely remittance of contributions while supporting better compliance with statutory requirements.

PERKESO stated that the Direct Debit feature is underpinned by stringent security measures, developed in collaboration with participating banks, to guarantee the safety and integrity of financial transactions. The organisation further clarified that this is an optional service, intended to complement existing payment methods such as FPX and over-the-counter banking.

The decision to roll out Direct Debit reflects PERKESO’s commitment to modernizing its services and responding to the needs of the employer community. By adopting this facility, businesses can enhance their operational efficiency and focus more effectively on workforce management and productivity.

Ultimately, the launch of the Direct Debit option on ASSIST marks another step toward a more responsive and efficient social protection system, reinforcing PERKESO’s role in safeguarding the welfare of workers across Malaysia.
