According to the Taichung City Local Tax Bureau, vehicles do not undergo the required periodic inspections within six months past the deadline would officially have their license plates officially canceled by the Motor Vehicles Office.

If such a vehicle is later found operating on public roads, the owner will be subject to:

  • A supplemental vehicle license tax
  • A fine of up to two times the amount of unpaid tax
