The 3,300 Billion Logistics Park in Lang Son Opened
On the morning of December 11, the Military Industry and Telecommunications Group (Viettel) officially opened Viettel Logistics Park, with a total investment of nearly 3,300 billion VND. The newly opened Viettel Logistics Park has a total area of more than 143 hectares. Total investment capital is nearly 3,300 billion VND, capable of clearing about 1,500 vehicles/day (twice the current rate). The data system connects directly to Vietnamese and Chinese customs data, ensuring optimization of operating processes, reducing customs clearance processing time from 4-5 days to less than 24 hours. Customs clearance costs are reduced by 30-40%, increasing the efficiency of refrigerated container trucks transporting fruit from 2.5 trips/month to 4-5 trips/month.
At the opening ceremony, Mr. Ho Tien Thieu – Chairman of Lang Son Provincial People’s Committee – said Lang Son plays the role of a strategic gateway connecting trade between Vietnam and China, adjacent to the Zhuang Autonomous Region (Guangxi), China – the leading agricultural logistics center of China and 5 northern provinces of Vietnam. “Not only is it an important domestic transit point, Lang Son is also a trade bridge between ASEAN and China. The Vietnam – China border market, especially between Guangxi and Lang Son, is growing strongly, becoming a potential logistics area for businesses. In order to promote import and export activities, Lang Son Provincial People’s Committee has implemented many support policies, creating favorable conditions for businesses when trading through border gates in the area”, Mr. Thieu expressed. The head Lang Son Provincial People’s Committee added that the goods transshipment project located in Dong Dang – Lang Son border gate economic zone is one of the province’s key projects of storing, preserving, classifying and packaging Import–export goods according to standards and quality From optimizing freight transportation, solving overload at border gates, and shortening customs clearance time, Lang Son will become the foundation for national logistics infrastructure.
Major General Cao Duc Thang – president and general director of Viettel Group – reviewed some key features of the military’s contribution to economic development. “With three functions of the army: combat army, working labor army, and production labor army. Today, with over 100 military enterprises, we have created 6-7% of national GDP, contributed over 3 billion USD to the budget, and generated annual profits of 3-4 billion USD. Logistics costs still account for 16-18% of goods costs, while in the world it is only about 10%. Therefore, modern, synchronized logistics centers will gradually remove bottlenecks, reduce costs as well as customs clearance time, the target is down to 24 hours.”.
Besides Viettel Lang Son Logistics Park, Viettel leaders believe that there is a need for large-scale, modern, green-oriented logistics projects across the country, for example in Lao Cai, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Ninh, and Tay Ninh or associated with new projects such as Long Thanh Airport, Vung Ang Port.
