Foxconn Plans to Produce Nintendo Switch from Project in Quang Ninh
In early July, Quang Ninh province granted an Investment Registration Certificate (IRC) to Foxconn Group to implement two projects with a total capital of 551 million USD, one of which is a smart entertainment product.
This capacity includes smart entertainment products: 4,000,000 products/year equivalent to 4,180 tons/year; air data sensor parts of unmanned aerial vehicles: 30,000 products/year equivalent to 1.17 tons/year; drone control unit: 30,000 products/year, equivalent to 72.24 tons/year; drone engine control module: 60,000 products/year, equivalent to 71.28 tons/year; drone signal and lighting system: 60,000 products/year, equivalent to 10.62 tons/year.
According to Foxconn’s draft report, the “smart entertainment product” of the project is the Nintendo Switch game console. Nintendo Switch was launched by Japanese video game company Nintendo in 2017 and is one of the most popular and high-quality game consoles in the world.
It is expected that this project will carry out investment preparation work from July to December 2024, construction in January 2025 – June 2026, installation of machinery and equipment and application for environmental permits in July – September 2026, trial operation in October – December 2026, and completion for operation from January 2027.
From the time the project officially goes into production, the total labor demand of the project is expected to be about 1,200 people when the project goes into stable operation.
