The National Traceability Information Portal Connects More than 4,000 Businesses and Localities
The Ministry of Science and Technology has officially put into operation the National Product and Goods Origin Traceability Portal from October 1, 2024.
At the regular press conference for the third quarter of 2024 of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Mr. Nghiem Thanh Hai, Deputy Head of the Quality Management and Conformity Assessment Department, National Committee for Standards, Metrology and Quality (Ministry of Science and Technology) said, To date, the Portal has connected with a number of localities and more than 4,000 participating businesses to implement product traceability. Many localities have submitted written requests for technical connection to the Gateway.
Currently, the National Barcode Center – the unit assigned by the National Committee for Standards, Metrology and Quality to implement this activity, is guiding and coordinating with localities to implement access connection.
The National Origin Traceability Portal acts as a bridge to connect all participants in the supply chain, between ministries, branches, localities, and businesses; Contributing to limiting software disorders and app traceability disorders…The portal will connect domestic and international traceability systems; Manage and update domestic and international product and commodity databases; Share traceability data between systems. At the same time, perform, monitor and evaluate work related to traceability management; Receive and process feedback and recommendations from individuals and organizations nationwide. The National Traceability Portal also relies on reporting data, statistics and technology to analyze and help management agencies make timely and appropriate policies.
Regarding solutions to effectively operate the National Origin Traceability Information Portal, Mr. Nghiem Thanh Hai said that the Ministry of Science and Technology is developing a Law project to amend and supplement a number of articles of the Law on Product and Goods Quality.
An important policy is to apply information technology to management and monitoring of product quality, including barcodes and traceability. This content will be developed and deployed uniformly across the country, thereby facilitating the operation of the National Origin Traceability Information Portal.
